York County issued the following announcement on Aug. 26
Please note the following office closures as we observe Labor Day, Monday, September 6:
York County offices - Closed
Courts - Closed
York-Poquoson Social Services - Closed
York County Public Libraries - Closed
Waste Management Center offices - Closed
VPPSA Composting Facility - Closed
York-Poquoson Cooperative Extension - Closed
Garbage/Recycling Collections
• The Republic Transfer Station and citizen drop-off areas for garbage and recycling are open regular operating hours.
• Curbside garbage collections will not be affected by the Labor Day holiday and will occur as scheduled.
• Curbside recycling collections will be delayed by one day – Monday routes will be collected on Tuesday, Tuesday routes will be collected on Wednesday, etc., with Friday routes being collected on Saturday. For more information on the Waste Management schedule, call (757) 890-3780
