James City County Government Center recently issued the following announcement.
The Deloreans, known as America’s Favorite 80’s Show Band, takes the stage in the Jamestown Jams concert series on Aug. 27. Put on your best 80s outfit and join us for this seasoned showband comprised of six distinct vocalists who cover the most memorable artists and nostalgic songs of the 80s. Each band member is featured throughout the show, making this band’s most notable attribute its unmatched variety. The band plays from 6-7:30 p.m. Concerts are free, performed live and are held outdoors at Jamestown Beach Event Park, 2205 Jamestown Road. Bring your own picnic or purchase food from the onsite trucks - the Skrimp Truck, Virginia Diner and Sno-to-Go. The Williamsburg Winery will also be on hand serving fine wines.
James City County is partnering with The Arc of Greater Williamsburg (The Arc) to offer the free concert series. The Arc will be selling assorted beer and all proceeds benefit their local activities and programs. The Arc has proudly served adults with developmental disabilities in our community since 1976. Now in their 43rd year, The Arc serves young adults as they age out of special education at age 22 and continue serving these adults through their lives. They provide 8-10 monthly, evening activities as well as a Day Support Program. Programs and activities also provide respite time for caregivers.
Admission to the concerts is free. The entrance opens at 5:30 p.m. Concerts take place on the grassy event field within Jamestown Beach Event Park. Parking is available behind the old Jamestown Campground building with additional parking in the Jamestown Settlement auxiliary lot located at the Park and at Jamestown Settlement’s bus lot, if necessary.
Chairs, blankets and your dancing shoes are encouraged! Snacks, picnics and non-alcoholic beverages permitted. All items are subject to inspection before entrance. No alcohol or large, plastic coolers are permitted. To ensure the safety of all guests, only service animals are permitted; pets are not permitted at the concerts.
Coming up Sept. 24, J Baxter & The Sauce conclude the Jamestown Jams concert series. This party-rock band features show performance and soul music showcasing a range of influences including James Brown, Michael Jackson, Parliament Funk and more.
