On March 26, Rep. Wittman expressed his understanding of the importance of federal and state collaboration in emergency preparedness due to his previous experience with the Virginia Department of Health. He noted that he appreciated meeting with officials from the Virginia Department of Emergency Management (VDEM) to discuss these matters. "Before coming to Congress, I worked for the Virginia Department of Health, so I understand how crucial it is for the federal government to work in close coordination with its state partners. I appreciated meeting with officials from the @VDEM to discuss emergency preparedness"
