Rep. Rob Wittman, a U.S. Congressman representing Virginia's 1st district, shared several updates on social media regarding local and national issues. Wittman, who has been serving in Congress since 2007, addressed topics ranging from environmental conservation to federal benefits and international trade.
On November 18, Rep. Wittman highlighted Virginia's prominence in oyster production on the East Coast by acknowledging "With Virginia leading in oyster production on the East Coast, it's fitting that November is Virginia Oyster Month!" He emphasized his role as co-chair of the Chesapeake Bay Watershed Task Force and his commitment to preserving the Bay and its oyster population for future generations.
On November 19, he reminded constituents about the Federal Benefits Open Season with a tweet stating "Don’t forget: Federal Benefits Open Season has begun!" He noted that those enrolled must make any changes to their plans by December 9.
Later that day, Wittman addressed concerns over China's export controls on critical minerals. He remarked that "China's new export controls on critical minerals are a wake-up call — reliance on Beijing is a threat to our economic security, national defense, and tech innovation." He called for diversification of supply chains and increased production to mitigate these risks.
