Delossantos, Lovasz, Williamson Earn Preseason Honors

 Tribe baseball's Joe Delossantos, Carter Lovasz, and Ben Williamson have been named preseason All-CAA as announced by the league Wednesday afternoon. William & Mary was selected to finish fifth out of 11 teams in the CAA, while 2022 regular season champion Charleston was picked to win the league. 
Williamson is the CAA's reigning Defensive Player of the Year and was a first team all-league selection last year. Lovasz earned a spot on the conference's second-team and was an all-rookie selection in 2022, while Delossantos took Honorable Mention honors. The Tribe joined Charleston, Hofstra, and Stony Brook as one of four teams to have at least three representatives on the preseason all-conference team. 
A rising senior, Delossantos started all but one game last year in the outfield. Delossantos ripped through pitching in 2022, finishing sixth in the CAA with a .313 batting average and third with a slugging percentage of .556. His nine homers ranked eighth in the league last season, while producing a .989 fielding percentage in the outfield. 
Lovasz earned Freshman All-America honors by Collegiate Baseball after a fantastic rookie year in 2022. The righty finished fifth in the nation with a 0.85 WHIP. The second-team all-league reliever held the opposition to a batting average of .179 and struck out 41 men to just 12 walks while collecting five saves. 
Williamson led the Tribe with 41 runs scored last season, ranking sixth in the CAA. The senior from Chantilly was second on the team with 53 hits including 11 doubles and four homers, and had 16 games with at least two knocks. The infielder will look to earn postseason all-league honors for the third straight season. 
William & Mary will begin the 2023 campaign Friday, February 17 visiting the Mercer Bears before the Feb. 21 home-opener against Richmond at Plumeri Park.
