City of Williamsburg Chosen as One of the Top Digital Cities in the U.S.

City of Williamsburg Chosen as One of the Top Digital Cities in the U.S.

The Center for Digital Government (CDG) announced the winners of its 2022 Digital Cities Survey, and Williamsburg, Virginia, placed third in the United States of populations less than 75,000.Now in its 22nd year, the annual survey is recognizing cities utilizing technology to strengthen cybersecurity, enhance transparency and digital equity, and plan for the future of work. “Constituents expect more from modern governments. Our Digital Cities survey winners have worked hard to keep the focus on the needs of the communities they serve while implementing technology to improve delivery and execution,” CDG Vice President Brian Cohen said. “We congratulate them for leading the way towards a smarter and more responsive government.”This year, the City was recognized for aligning IT’s strategic plan with the City’s goals; implementing its first-ever information security program manual and incident response plan, which includes actions that should be taken in the event of a cyberattack; and partnering with Zencity to develop a platform that consolidates into a single dashboard questions or reported issues submitted by residents and visitors through web forms, social media, chatbots and other tools.“The City of Williamsburg has long been recognized in the Digital Cities Survey for our use of technology throughout the organization and the city itself,” said Mark Barham, the City’s chief information officer. “Our ranking of third in the nation, given our small population size, is a testament to the hard work of all city staff and the support we receive from City Council.”Read the full news release and more about the City of Williamsburg’s achievement on the Digital Communities website.
