29

City of Williamsburg issued the following announcement on March 10

Registration is open for Community Emergency Response Team training classes.

City of Williamsburg and James City County residents can register online to learn basic disaster response skills, such as disaster medical operations, fire safety, light search and rescue skills, and team organization.

The Williamsburg Community Emergency Response Team was implemented in order to educate City residents about disaster preparedness for hazards that may impact our community. CERT members are trained to help the community in the time period following a disaster when public safety personnel may be overwhelmed and unable to assist.

The next scheduled class begins Thursday, March 10. Registration is accepted through Tuesday, March 8.
