News and Notes

- The Tribe qualified for the CAA Tournament for the first time since the 2017 season. Overall, it marks the 22nd time that W&M has earned a spot in the league tournament out of 28 events. The Green and Gold is the No. 7 seed for the first time and will play Drexel for just the second time. W&M downed the Dragons, 1-0, in the quarterfinals in 2014.

- On Wednesday, freshman Ivey Crain was named the CAA Rookie of the Year. She was also selected to the All-CAA First Team and CAA All-Rookie Team. Crain is just the fourth Tribe player, joining Katie Hogwood (2003), Lindsey Vanderspiegel (2000) and Mary Totman (1995), to be named CAA Rookie of the Year. Crain is the first Tribe freshman to be named to the All-CAA First Team since 2007 and the eighth overall.

- Crain was ranked No. 51 on the Top Drawer Soccer national midseason top-100 freshmen list. She ranks second among all NCAA freshmen in points and third in goals. Crain leads the Tribe with 23 points on nine goals and five assists.

- In CAA play, Crain led the league with 15 points and ranked second with six goals. She was second in the league in points and third goals across all games. Nationally, the rookie strikers is 32nd in points and 39th in the goals. Crain also ranks ninth nationally in shot accuracy with 64.3% of her shots coming on goal.

- Crain's 23 points are the most for a Tribe player since 2011, while her nine goals are the most for W&M since 2016. Her goal total is the best for a Tribe true freshman since All-American and two-time CAA Player of the Year Claire Zimmeck had 11 in 2005.

- After struggling to score last season, W&M stepped up its scoring in 2022. After posting a combined 16 points on six goals and four assists last season, the Tribe totaled 77 points on 23 goals and 31 assists this year. The Tribe's 31 assists rank second in the CAA and 42nd nationally.

- Senior Kayleigh Shackford recorded her first career game with a goal and an assist in the Tribe's 4-0 win over Hampton on Sunday. For her efforts, she was named the W&M Student-Athlete of the Week presented by the Virginia Lottery. Shackford ranks second in the CAA and 32nd nationally in assists with seven.

- Junior Kenna Zier ranks third on the team with 10 points on three goals and four assists. She scored goals in three-straight CAA matches against Charleston (10/2), Northeastern (10/6) and Monmouth (10/9).

- Last season, senior Zoe Doughty was named the CAA Goalkeeper of the Year and took home All-CAA First Team honors. Her goals against average (0.38) and a save % (93.2) would have led the country if she met the NCAA minimum for games played. This season, she owns a GAA of 1.27 and has six shutouts. For her career, she ranks just outside the Tribe's top five with a 1.00 GAA.

- W&M ended the nonconference portion of the schedule and started the CAA slate with a six-match unbeaten streak, its longest since 2015. W&M won its final two nonconference games, including a 1-0 victory at East Carolina, before going 2-0-2 to start CAA play.
