Kayleigh Shackford Named the W&M Student Athlete of the Week Presented by the Virginia Lottery

Women's soccer senior Kayleigh Shackford was named the William & Mary Student-Athlete of the Week presented by the Virginia Lottery on Tuesday.

Shackford was voted as this week's award winner by the Tribe fanbase via social media polls on both the @TribeAthletics Twitter and Instagram accounts. Football's Tye Freeland, volleyball's Kaitlyn Ferguson, and women's swimming's Katie Stevenson were also honored as finalists for the weekly award. It marks the fourth time this fall that a women's soccer player has won the award.

Shackford helped the women's soccer program secure its first Colonial Athletic Association Tournament bid since 2017 following the Tribe's 4-0 win over Hampton on Sunday. She notched her first career game with a goal and an assist in the victory over the Pirates. On the year, Shackford ranks second in the CAA with seven assists.

A kinesiology major, Shackford is a three-time CAA Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll selection.
