Greater Williamsburg Chamber & Tourism Alliance issued the following announcement on Aug. 11
The Greater Williamsburg Chamber of Commerce is thrilled to present the 2021 Roll of the Drum Award to the City of Williamsburg, York County, and James City County.
First presented in 1967, the Roll of the Drum is the Chamber’s most prestigious award, recognizing an individual for outstanding work on behalf of the community, the Chamber, or both.
This past year, the local governments of the City of Williamsburg, York County, and James City County went beyond what was expected to serve residents and businesses throughout the coronavirus pandemic.
Between the diligence of first responders, the creation of numerous grant opportunities, the distribution of vaccines, the efforts of educators, and more, every individual working for these three localities is deserving of recognition.
“We have witnessed a tremendous amount of collaboration this past year, and our community has been made stronger as a result,” stated Terry Banez, CEO of the Greater Williamsburg Chamber. “It is a joy to express our appreciation of our local governments with this Roll of the Drum award.”
