Tribe Takes 15-1 Win Over Hofstra

- William & Mary benefited from timely hitting and outstanding pitching in a 15-1 seven-inning win over Hofstra Saturday morning. The first seven innings were played on Friday and the teams resumed action Saturday. Carter Lovasz tossed 4.2 innings of scoreless ball, striking out five and allowing two hits. Owen Pierce tossed final 2.1 innings and allowed the lone Hofstra run while Noah Hertzler held the Pride scoreless for the final two innings.

Ben Williamson continued his hot streak with a double, two-run homer, and three runs batted in, while Max Winters scored four of the Tribe's 13 runs. Corey Adams and Luca Danos both added a pair of hits and two runs scored in the contest.

The teams were scoreless through one inning, but the Tribe would take advantage of three walks and timely hits to plate three in the top of the second. A bases-loaded walk from Cole Ragone would break open the scoring and two William & Mary players would score on a two-out hit from Joe Delossantos.

Nick Lottchea and Adams delivered back to back RBI singles in the top half of the third to score two runs and make it a 5-0 game. Ben Williamson's double in the bottom of the fourth scored Danos and made the advantage six runs.

Hofstra would threaten with men on second and third with a pair of outs in the fifth but Owen Pierce would stifle the Pride and temporarily preserve the shutout.

It was the sixth run sixth inning that busted the game open as Williamson started the barrage with the two-run shot. Tank Yaghoubi would launch a two-RBI double, and Danos would also smack a run-scoring double in the game.

The Tribe would score one more in the seventh to make it 13-0 before a solo shot would get Hofstra on the board. William & Mary tacked on a pair of runs in the ninth to ensure the 15-1 final.

Up Next: The Tribe will look to take game two of the series as the two teams get together for an 11:30 a.m. start Saturday morning.
