A new season of the popular television series Bridgerton has inspired tourism officials in Williamsburg, Virginia, to promote a themed Valentine’s Day experience for couples seeking a romantic setting reminiscent of the Regency era.

In a message referencing the show’s appeal, organizers encourage visitors to spend Valentine’s Day immersed in Williamsburg’s historic charm. The suggested itinerary includes starting the day with a walk through Colonial Williamsburg’s cobblestone streets and exploring preserved buildings. Local shops offer period hats and bonnets for those wanting an authentic touch.

The press release states: “Begin your day with a leisurely promenade through the cobblestone streets of Colonial Williamsburg. Imagine yourselves as Daphne and Simon, taking in the sights and perhaps exchanging a knowing glance or two. The historic buildings, meticulously preserved, offer a picturesque backdrop for whispered confessions and dreams of your future together.”

Couples are invited to visit local bakeries such as Hohl, the Bake Shop, or Wythe Candy & Gourmet Shop for pastries and confections. The release notes: “Many local bakeries, such as Hohl, the Bake Shop, or Wythe Candy & Gourmet Shop, offer delightful pastries and confections that would surely satisfy even Lady Whistledown’s discerning palate.”

For those interested in art, visits to Abby Aldrich Rockefeller Folk Art Museum or Muscarelle Museum of Art are recommended. According to organizers: “Embrace this by visiting the Abby Aldrich Rockefeller Folk Art Museum or the Muscarelle Museum of Art. These world-class museums house exquisite collections that will transport you to a world of beauty and craftsmanship.”

Carriage rides through historic areas are also available. The announcement reads: “Later, for a truly unique experience, consider a carriage ride through the historic area. Snuggled together, you can admire the charming scenery while feeling like you’re en route to a grand ball.”

Dining options include establishments with historical ambiance such as Christiana Campbell’s Tavern or King’s Arms Tavern. The press release says: “Several establishments in Williamsburg offer a refined dining experience perfect for a romantic evening. Look for restaurants with a historic ambiance such as Christiana Campbell’s Tavern or King’s Arms Tavern with menus featuring locally sourced ingredients.”

Opportunities for live music and informal dance lessons are suggested as ways to end the evening.

Organizers conclude: “Whether you’re dreaming of grand balls or quiet strolls through history, Williamsburg sets the stage for a Valentine’s Day worthy of the Ton.”
