Rep. Rob Wittman, a longstanding member of the U.S. Congress representing Virginia's 1st district, has recently shared his thoughts and updates through a series of tweets. Wittman, who has been serving since 2007 after succeeding Jo Ann Davis, is known for his focus on local safety and national security issues.

On February 11, 2025, Rep. Wittman announced the cancellation of his team's mobile office hours due to severe winter weather conditions affecting the region. He emphasized that "The safety of VA-01 residents will always be my top priority."

In another tweet dated February 12, 2025, Wittman expressed concerns over reliance on China for critical minerals. As vice chairman of the Natural Resources Committee, he stated that "If we truly care about labor standards and the environment, we simply cannot continue relying on China for critical minerals." He highlighted this as an urgent national security threat.

Later on February 12, Wittman addressed defense budget inadequacies in relation to China's military advancements. He mentioned a discussion at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), noting that "We currently do not have the defense budget we need to counter China's military modernization efforts — we desperately need to invest in bolstering our forces in the Indo-Pacific."
