November Election Information for York County is Now Available
Election Information
On November 8, York County voters will be choosing a member of the First Congressional District for the U.S. House of Representatives as well as choosing a Commonwealth's Attorney. A sample ballot is available below.
On Election Day, November 8, all regular York County polling places will be open from 6 a.m. until 7 p.m. If you are in line at 7 p.m., you are still able to vote; do not get out of line.
If you want to vote early, in person, or absentee, by-mail, please read below under "Absentee Voting" for additional information.
Voter Registration
The Constitution of Virginia requires that voters be registered in the precinct in which they live in order to be qualified to vote. The deadline to register to vote in the election, or to update one’s registration information in time for the election, is Monday, October 17.
Qualified residents who will be at least 18 years of age on or before November 8, may register and vote. Voters who are members of the uniformed services or who are overseas may visit the website of the Department of Elections for information on how to ensure they are able to vote in this election.
There are three ways citizens can register or update their voter registration information:
- Citizens can register to vote, update, and check their voter registration information online.
- A copy of the voter registration form is also available online and can be printed off, completed, signed, and then mailed or hand delivered to the Registrar’s Office.
- Citizens may come to one of the following sites and register in person

In-Person Voting Options:
An application is not needed to vote in person at either of the Registrar's Office's locations.

- 6614 Mooretown Rd., Ste. A, Williamsburg.
By-Mail Voting Options:
If you want to vote absentee by mail, start here to apply for an absentee ballot online, or download a form here to complete, sign, and mail to our office. Voters who receive their ballot by mail can return it by mail or by dropbox.
Ballot dropboxes will be available the same dates, times, and locations listed above for in-person voting, as well as on Monday, November 7, from 8:30-5:00. Dropboxes will also be available at each York County polling place on Election Day from 6 a.m. until 7 p.m.

Applications for registration and by-mail absentee ballots, as well as sample ballots, are available at the above registration sites, on this website, and by calling the Registrar’s Office at 757-890-3440 (hearing impaired: TTD 757-890-3300).
The law permits emergency absentee voting in a few, very limited situations until 2 p.m. on Monday, November 7. For more information on emergency absentee voting, call the Registrar’s Office at 757-890-3440.
