William & Mary junior Maddie George was named the National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division I Defensive Player of the Week, the organization announced on Wednesday.
The award added to the honors for George after a standout week. She was named the CAA co-Player of the Week on Monday and took home the William & Mary Student-Athlete of the Week presented by the Virginia Lottery on Tuesday.
George made 20 saves last week and posted a save % of 87.0 in two games. Highlighting the week, she recorded a career-high 12 saves in shutting out No. 6-ranked Liberty on Sunday.
