Williamsburg Fire and Police departments responded to a call of a possible hand grenade in the 200 block of Monticello Avenue at 9:08 a.m. Wednesday, July 13, 2022. Upon seeing the device, public safety officials evacuated the surrounding businesses and called for assistance from the Newport News Bomb Squad. After an investigation, the device was determined to be a rubber toy resembling a hand grenade. There is no danger to the public.
