Matthew Feinstein Notches Top 10 at Wildcat Spring Invitational

 William & Mary senior Matthew Feinstein led the way for the Tribe at the Wildcat Spring Invitational, recording his third top-10 effort of the season.

 

Feinstein fired a 3-over par 73 on Tuesday, including 14 pars and a birdie over his 18 holes. He garnered a share of eighth in the individual standings behind a 5-over 145. Feinstein ranks third among all competitors in pars with 26 over his 36 holes.

 

As a team, the Tribe shot a 298 on Tuesday to finish the tournament in seventh place at 590 (+30), just five shots out of third place. W&M finished ahead of fellow CAA team Delaware, who was ninth at 595 (+35), just a week ahead of the CAA Championship. Marquette won the team title, shooting 566 (+6) over the two days.

 

Marquette's Hunter Eichhorn was the individual champion, shooting a 3-under 137.

                                       

Freshman Logan Hunter earned a top-20 finish, shooting a 5-over 75 to earn a share of 17th. His two-day total was 146 (+6). Hunter finished ninth in the tournament field with six birdies.

 

Sophomore Will Rieck turned in a strong second round, shooting a 3-over par 73. He garnered a share of 28th thanks to a 149 (+9). He was fifth in the tournament field in par 3 scoring at even par.

 

Redshirt freshman Jake Newman and junior Trevor Binau rounded out the Tribe lineup in 61st at 155 (+15) and 67th at 156 (+16), respectively.

 

Up Next: The Tribe kicks off the championship season when it heads to Beaufort, S.C., and the Bataw Island Club for the 2022 CAA Championships. The opening round is set for 8:30 a.m. on Sunday, April 24. The second round is Monday, April 25, at 8:30 a.m. with the final round slated for Tuesday, April 26, at 8 a.m.
