Tribe Swimming Wraps Up Cavalier Invitational

Riverside Doctors' Hospital Williamsburg issued the following announcement on Feb. 6

William & Mary participated in the Cavalier Invitation in Charlottesville this weekend. The Tribe had outstanding performances across the three-day meet in the final tune-up before the CAA Championships.

 

500 FREE

Julie Anderson finished sixth in the prelims with a time of 5:05.29 and seventh in the final round with a 5:05.45 mark.

 

200 IM

In the 200 Alexis Bonfield wowed with a 2:05.96 time for a second place in both prelims and finals. Natalia Rongione had a solid effort swimming 2:09.19 good for tenth overall. On the men's end, Mills Harris won the finals B heat with a 1:57.11 time.

 

50 FREE

Sydney Querner was the fastest Tribe woman of the day swimming to a sixth place finish with a time of 24.01 while Elizabeth Kuhlkin and Faith Perry both bested their prelim times in the finals.

 

100 FLY

Julie Anderson took home fourth place with a time of 57:12 and teammate Elizabeth Kuhlkin finished just behind with a 57.86 time. John O'Hara also came in fourth on the men's side with a final time of 49.71.

 

400 IM

Rongione placed fourth in the 400 IM, shaving over seven seconds off her preliminary time, finishing with a 4:32.01.

 

200 FREE

Sydney Querner was the fastest W&M swimmer, placing eighth overall with a time of 1:54.49, a full second faster than her prelim time.

 

100 BREAST

Lexi Nussbaum and Faith Perry finished two tenths of a second apart with times of 1:10.57 and 1:10.59 good for fifth and sixth respectively. On the men's end, Mills Harris finished sixth with a time of 1:00.13.

 

100 BACK

Bonfield continued her strong weekend finishing fourth with a time of 56.22 and Kuhlkin clocked in at 57.59 to take the B heat.

 

200 BACK

Bonfield was once again the fastest of the Tribe swimmers with a time of 2:02.38 in prelims and a final mark of 2:03.75 for a fifth place finish.

 

100 FREE

Querner's 52.22 time in prelims was her best effort as she finished with a finals time of 52.73 to tie for sixth overall. Perry swam for a 55.57 mark.

 

200 BREAST

Rongione finished with a strong finals time of 2:25.63 for sixth place, while Nussbaum was one spot behind in seventh. Harris placed fifth in the men's heat with a time of 2:12.89.

 

200 FLY

Anderson had the third fastest time in the prelims heat swimming a brisk 2:06.20 and finished fifth overall in the finals.
