JAMES CITY COUNTY: Potential Delays Expected During Jamestown Triathlon Events

James City County issued the following announcement on Jun. 9.

The Jamestown Olympic Triathlon and Jamestown Sprint Triathlon will cause temporary delays on portions of James City County roads on Saturday, June 19. More than 700 athletes will be participating in the two events, which will affect roads in the morning hours.

From 7 a.m. to noon on Saturday, motorists will encounter delays due to the Jamestown Triathlon events on:

Jamestown Road near the Jamestown-Scotland Ferry

Greensprings Road

4H Club Road

John Tyler Highway, including the intersection of John Tyler Highway and Greensprings Road

Intersection of Monticello Avenue and John Tyler Highway

Police will be directing traffic during the race to aid in preventing delays. Bicyclists and runners will be traveling on the roadways throughout the morning even when traffic is moving steadily, so drivers should use caution.

The Jamestown Triathlon events are USA Triathlon sanctioned events and are organized by Kinetic Multisports. The Olympic and Sprint distance races will be the USA Triathlon Virginia State Triathlon Championships. The Sprint distance race will be the USA Triathlon Virginia High School Triathlon Championships. For more information, please visit their website.
