William & Mary track and field finished its regular season on May 3 at the Duke Twilight meet, highlighted by a record-setting performance from freshman Kennedy Reynolds. Reynolds broke the school record in the women’s 400-meter hurdles with a personal-best time of 59.26 seconds, becoming the first athlete in program history to run under one minute in that event.
The achievement by Reynolds also set a new freshman record for William & Mary. Several other athletes contributed notable performances to close out the season. Freshman Amelia Bawcombe threw a personal best of 45.17 meters in the women’s discus, moving her to fifth on William & Mary’s all-time performers list for that event.
Elaina Perkins placed fifth in the women’s javelin with a throw of 41.63 meters, while senior Kalli Knott cleared four meters in the pole vault to finish sixth overall. Knott’s mark ties her for fifth-best all-time at William & Mary and follows her personal best of 4.05 meters achieved one week earlier at the Penn Relays.
Freshman Finn Middleton posted personal records in both the men’s 110-meter hurdles and 100-meter dash, running times that place him sixth and ninth respectively on William & Mary’s all-time lists for those events.
The team ended its regular season with several program records and top-10 performances as it prepares for postseason competition. According to team officials, “William & Mary wrapped up the regular season with momentum heading into postseason competition after another weekend filled with program records, personal bests and top-10 all-time performances.” The next scheduled event is participation in the Colonial Athletic Association Outdoor Track and Field Championships on May 15-16.
