Rep. Rob Wittman, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Virginia’s 1st district since 2007, has been active on social media addressing both immediate concerns and community recognitions. Wittman succeeded Jo Ann Davis in his congressional role and has a long history of public service including time in the Virginia House of Delegates and Westmoreland County Board of Supervisors.

On May 13, 2025, Rep. Wittman issued a warning about severe weather conditions affecting central Virginia. “Folks, please be aware there is a flood watch in effect throughout central Virginia,” he advised. He encouraged residents to stay safe by avoiding flooded areas and recommended following @VDOT for local updates.

Later that day, Wittman acknowledged National Police Week with a message of gratitude to law enforcement personnel. He stated, “This #NationalPoliceWeek, we honor all of the brave men and women who selflessly place themselves in harm’s way to keep our communities safe.” He expressed appreciation for their service in protecting the people of Virginia.

The following day, May 14, 2025, Wittman announced the winner of the Congressional Art Competition for Virginia’s First District. “I’m proud to announce Victoria Ji of Glen Allen as the winner,” he wrote. Her painting “July” will be displayed in the U.S. Capitol as part of her achievement.

Rob Wittman was born in Washington D.C., in 1959 and resides in Montross. A graduate from Virginia Tech with a Bachelor of Science degree obtained in 1981, he has dedicated many years to serving his constituents.
