Rep. Rob Wittman, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Virginia’s 1st district, has recently shared several updates on his official activities via social media. Wittman, who has been in office since 2007 after replacing Jo Ann Davis, used his platform to discuss legislative progress and engagements with educational leaders.
On March 6, 2025, Rep. Wittman announced that his “Freedom to Invest in Tomorrow’s Workforce Act” had garnered significant support with over 60 cosponsors. He stated that the bill aims to provide students and professionals with more resources for postsecondary education workforce certifications. “Proud to announce that my Freedom to Invest in Tomorrow’s Workforce Act has surpassed 60 cosponsors!”
Later on the same day, Wittman welcomed Old Dominion University President Brian O. Hemphill to Capitol Hill for discussions on public health and health sciences programs at the university. As a former marine scientist with a master’s degree in public health himself, Wittman expressed enjoyment from their productive meeting. “It was my pleasure to welcome @ODU President @BrianOHemphill to Capitol Hill! We had a great discussion about their impressive public health and health sciences programs.”
On March 7, 2025, Rep. Wittman highlighted Stratford Hall as a historic landmark near his home area of Westmoreland County during a meeting with its president Karen Daly. The discussion centered around Stratford Hall’s efforts towards supporting the upcoming 250th anniversary of America’s founding.“Stratford Hall is a historic landmark not too far from where I’m from in Westmoreland County.”
