Rep. Rob Wittman, a longstanding member of the U.S. Congress representing Virginia’s 1st district since 2007, has recently expressed his views on several pressing issues through social media. His tweets cover topics ranging from international incidents to domestic policy and environmental conservation.

On May 22, Wittman addressed a tragic event in Washington, D.C., expressing his sorrow over an antisemitic attack that resulted in the deaths of two Israeli embassy staff members. “I am heartbroken by the horrific antisemitic attack in Washington, D.C. that took the lives of two Israeli embassy staff members, Yaron and Sarah.” He extended his condolences to their families and emphasized the importance of combating such acts.

Later that day, Wittman shared his commitment to delivering tangible results for Virginians through legislative action. “Today I voted to deliver real results for Virginians—lowering taxes, protecting Medicaid, investing in rural schools, and boosting our national defense.” He described these efforts as significant steps toward ensuring a more secure and affordable future for residents.

On May 23, Wittman highlighted the significance of the Chesapeake Bay to Virginia’s economy and environment. “The Chesapeake Bay is vital to Virginia’s economy, environment, and communities.” He urged Congress to pass his proposed Chesapeake Bay Conservation Acceleration Act aimed at supporting farmers and safeguarding water resources.

Wittman’s long tenure in public service began with roles in local government before he joined Congress following Jo Ann Davis’s term. Born in Washington, D.C., he now resides in Montross and holds a degree from Virginia Tech.
