Renovations at the James City County Recreation Center pool are ongoing, with work being done to update the 40-year-old facility located at 5301 Longhill Rd. The project has encountered unexpected structural issues, which have delayed the planned reopening date.

The contractor is working extended hours and weekends to finish the renovations. An updated timeline for completion is being finalized. According to officials, once a new reopening date is set, it will be shared with Recreation Center members via email and posted on the JCCRC Aquatics webpage as well as social media channels including Facebook and Instagram. Patrons can also call 757-259-4200 for current information.

The renovation includes resurfacing the pool deck and interior bottom, installing a new central drainage system, raising the pool ceiling, enhancing interior lighting, adding poolside showers, updating ADA accessible ramps and railings, improving the HVAC system, and creating two poolside offices with storage space.

Carla Brittle, Tourism & Centers Administrator for James City County, serves as the media contact for further inquiries.
