Renovations are set to begin at the indoor pool of the James City County Recreation Center, located at 5301 Longhill Rd., on Monday, June 16. These improvements aim to ensure safety and modernize the facility as it nears its 40th anniversary. The pool is expected to reopen on Monday, November 24, 2025. During this period, the pool and hot tubs will not be available.

The planned upgrades include a resurfaced pool deck, a new central drainage system, a resurfaced interior pool bottom and tiling, a raised ceiling, enhanced lighting, poolside showers, an updated ADA accessible ramp and railing, HVAC system improvements, and two new poolside offices with storage space.

Local aquatic facilities have partnered with the center to provide alternative swimming spaces during the closure. Availability may change; for updates and schedules, patrons can visit the Aquatics webpage or contact the JCCRC front desk at 757-259-4200.

Aquatic Fitness classes will continue at Chickahominy Riverfront Park located at 1350 John Tyler Hwy during this time.

For those holding center passes who wish not to use the facility while renovations are ongoing, options include freezing their pass or requesting a prorated refund for unused membership time. More details can be obtained by visiting the Front Desk or calling 757-259-4200.

For current information regarding these changes and renovations, individuals are encouraged to visit jamescitycountyva.gov/2673/Aquatics or call 757-259-4200.
