James City County has been named one of the top three winners in the 2025 CivicPlus Community Impact Awards. The awards program recognizes CivicPlus customers that are making significant contributions to their communities through innovation, service, and dedication.

The county’s winning project is the Housing Portal website, which offers residents a centralized online resource for housing assistance. Accessible via both the county website and a mobile app, the portal provides information and tools related to housing office requests and outreach efforts. Since its launch, the Housing Portal has recorded more than 10,000 visits. The site has also led to a 120% increase in visits to the Food Bank page, a 50% rise in visits to the Voucher Programs page, and a 98% jump in visits to the Income-Based Rental Opportunities page.

As part of this recognition, James City County will receive a $1,000 charitable donation made in its name to an organization it selects. Additional honors include a recognition trophy and a video spotlight produced by CivicPlus about the initiative’s story and impact.

Brian Rempe, Chief Executive Officer of CivicPlus, stated: “The Community Impact Awards honor the everyday work that leads to extraordinary outcomes. The most powerful changes often start at the local level, and we’re proud to recognize our customers that are driving innovation and setting new standards in public service. James City County’s work is shaping the future of impact-led government and redefining the resident experience. We hope James City County’s success inspires other communities to explore new ways to serve, engage, and lead.”

CivicPlus established these awards to highlight U.S.-based customers who are improving their communities through enhanced services or innovative programs.
