James City County has announced its participation as a Commemorative Partner of VA250, the Virginia American Revolution 250 Commission. The initiative marks the upcoming 250th anniversary of American independence and highlights Virginia’s significant role among the original thirteen colonies.

The county is inviting local businesses to become VA250 Commemorative Partners. Businesses interested in participating can find more information at the official website, VA250.org. For further questions or details, individuals are encouraged to contact the county via email.

James City County will hold its own 250th Commemoration from April 17-19, 2026. The event, titled “Revolutionary Rhythms,” will include musical performances, historical interpretations, a mobile museum exhibit, food vendors, crafters, and activities for families. More information about the schedule and event details will be released in early 2026. Those interested in supporting the celebration through donations or sponsorships can reach out to Parks & Recreation by email.

Residents are also encouraged to follow James City County on Facebook or Instagram and visit the county’s website for updates on programs and events related to the commemoration.

“Of the thirteen original colonies, none played as fundamental a role as Virginia in the formation of our country. From the ideas that inspired it, to the battlefields that decided it, there is simply no America without it. As we mark 250 years of Independence, now is the perfect time for you to reconnect with your country in the place that made it possible. Please join us at VA250.org.”
