James City County has announced that its offices and the Recreation Center will open at 10 a.m. on December 9, while parks and convenience centers are scheduled to open at noon. The decision follows ongoing winter weather conditions affecting the area.

The National Weather Service has extended the Winter Storm Warning for the region until midnight on December 8. Emergency officials in James City County are continuing to monitor the situation through the evening and overnight hours.

County officials have cautioned residents about hazardous road conditions due to expected drops in temperature overnight, which could cause snow on roadways to freeze. Residents are advised to avoid travel if possible.
