James City County is planning its 250th Commemoration, scheduled for April 17-19, 2026, at Jamestown Beach Event Park. The event, called Revolutionary Rhythms weekend, will include activities for all ages such as national musical performances, a 3D drone show, historical interpretations, food vendors, crafters, and family-friendly entertainment. The commemoration is organized by James City County in partnership with CultureFix.

The festivities begin on Friday evening with an opening concert featuring the pop rock band Plain White T’s. Food trucks and beverages will be available during the event.

Saturday’s schedule includes a Family-Friendly Day Festival from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., offering amusements like face painting, balloon and caricature artists, photobooth areas, tethered hot air balloon rides for a fee, crafts for children and adults, local artisans selling Americana-themed merchandise for purchase, and various food trucks.

A closing concert on Saturday night will feature Kool & The Gang as the headliner. Following the concert at 9:15 p.m., there will be a 3D drone show displaying patriotic and Americana images in the sky.

On Sunday, organizers are finalizing plans that may include a Guided Driving Tour and an appearance by the VA250 Mobile Museum. More information about these activities will be announced soon on the county’s official website (https://www.jamescitycountyva.gov/4128/Celebrating-Americas-Foundation).

Information regarding ticket sales for concerts will be shared in upcoming weeks through social media channels and the county website. Updates about programs and tours related to James City County’s commemoration are also expected to be posted online.

Those interested in participating as vendors or volunteers or seeking sponsorship opportunities can contact Parks & Recreation via email.

The schedule of events may change depending on weather conditions.
