Four arrested in James City County on felony weapons charges

At around 9:30 a.m. on December 12, 2025, James City County Police supported York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Deputies in executing a search warrant at a residence on the 8300 block of York River Park Rd. The operation was related to an ongoing investigation by the York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Department.

Following the search, four males were arrested and charged with felony possession of a firearm equipped with a machine gun conversion device. Among those charged are Joseph Roy Morrisette, 19, from Shacklefords; Deavonte Mikel Tyler, 18, from Toano; as well as two juveniles aged 17 and 16 from James City County. The juveniles also face charges for possession of a firearm by a minor.

Joseph Roy Morrisette and Deavonte Mikel Tyler are being held at the Virginia Peninsula Regional Jail. The two juveniles are detained at the Merrimac Detention Facility.

The investigation led by the York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Department is still underway. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms agents and their K-9 team also assisted in executing the search warrant.
